Salaries
Nurses can make about $19 to $25 an hour there first year nursing. Your hour wage will go up from there, after about twenty years or more you should be making $27 to $37 an hour. If you were interested in being an ICU nurse than after twenty years, you will be making between $29 and $38 an hour. When you first start out as an ICU nurse, you should be making between $19 and $25 an hour.
Higher Education
After you get an associate degree or a bachelor degree, you need to do a nursing program and you must have a diploma from a nursing program in order to be a nurse. You should do clinic training that will allow you to have hands on learning. When you become a certified nurse, you will need to take a few classes over the years to keep your skills current. You need to take science classes, be a good reader and writer, and be good at math.
Job Description
There are many different fields as to being a nurse. Some nurses will work with injured or sick patients. Some can work with babies and children only. Some will help doctors in a surgery. Others may want to fly in a helicopter with the patient. Some nurses help woman give birth.

Nurses Needed the Most
Many states in the US are lacking nurses. The states that are lacking nurses the most are: Idaho, Utah, Arizona, California, Oklahoma, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas. California has the lowest number of nurses. In California, we have 603 nurses per every 100,000 people.

Schools
There are many great school to go to for nurses. The University of California San Francisco is one of the top schools for nurses. To get into UCSF to be a nurse, you should have a GPA of 3.0. The University of North Carolina Chapel Hill is another top school for nursing. You need to have a "B" average. University of Texas Austin is in the high category needs to be a 3.0 GPA also.
